Job is defined by a group of homogeneous tasks related by similarity of functions. When performed by an employee in an exchange for pay. A job consists of duties, responsibilities, and tasks (performance elements) that are (1) defined and specific, and (2) can be accomplished, quantified, measured, and rated.

Types of Jobs:

  1. White collar jobs
  2. Blue collar jobs
  3. Green collar jobs
  4. Grey collar jobs

White collar jobs: White collar jobs Refers to employees whose job entails, largely or entirely, mental or clerical work, such as in an office. It refers to employees or professionals whose work is knowledge intensive, non-routine, and unstructured

 Blue collar jobs:  Blue collar jobs are a kind of job that needs a worker to perform physical labor in the workplace. Bule Collar jobs in which a person has to perform administrative or professional work.

 Green collar jobs: A green-collar worker is a worker who is employed in the environmental sectors of the economy. Environmental green-collar workers (or green jobs) satisfy the demand for green development.

Grey collar jobs: Grey-collar is occasionally used to describe elderly individuals working beyond the age of retirement. These occupations incorporate elements of both blue- and white-collar work.

Skills needed for green jobs:

Green skills, are the technical skills, knowledge, values and attitudes needed in the workforce to develop and support sustainable social, economic and environmental outcomes in institutions, business, industry and the community. Green skills is the professional knowledge, abilities, values and attitudes needed in the transition to a green economy.

Right skills for green jobs are the prerequisite to make the transition to a greener economy happen. Today, skills gaps are already recognized as a major bottleneck in a number of sectors, such as renewable energy, energy and resource efficiency, renovation of buildings, construction, environmental services, manufacturing. The adoption and dissemination of clean technologies requires skills in technology application, adaptation and maintenance. Skills are also crucial for economies and businesses, workers and entrepreneurs, to rapidly adapt to changes as a consequence of environmental policies or climate change.
