Skills for sustainability, also known as green skills, are the technical skills, knowledge, values and attitudes needed in the workforce to develop and support sustainable social, economic and environmental outcomes in business, industry and the. Green skills are those skills needed to adapt processes, services and products to climate change and the environmental regulations and requirements related to it. They include the knowledge, abilities, values and attitudes needed to live in, develop and support a sustainable and resource-efficient society. Green skills are required in areas such as such as Renewable energy, Wastewater treatment, Climate resilient cities, Green construction, Solid waste management etc.

 

What are the main sectors of green skills?

For example, agriculture, automotive, construction, transportation and healthcare are different sectors of economy. To make the economy 'green' or environmental friendly there are some sectors where major changes can be made.

 

What do you mean by green economy?

A green economy can be defined as one that results in improved human well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities and that aims for sustainable development without degrading the environment. It is closely related with ecological economics, but has a more politically applied focus. At the operational level, green economy is one whose growth of income and jobs is driven by investments that reduce carbon emissions & pollution, and enhance natural capital.

 

What is the importance of green economy?

Green Economy is a clean, environmentally friendly economy that promotes health, wealth, and well-being. A Green Economy is dependent on sustainable development – which means growing our economies in ways that benefit, not sacrifice, social justice and equity as well as the environment.

Components of green economy?

Four elements of green economy:

  1. Environment
  2. Energy
  3. Health and
  4. Economy
